This is a Biology textbook written by Ashok Sabharwal and published by Modern Publishers for BSc 1st semester Panjab University Chandigarh.

The content of this textbook is divided into four units, where Unit 1 and 2 deals with "Cell Biology" where attempts have been made to give an authoritative account of cell organelles like plasma membrane, endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria and Gogi complex, lysosomes, ribosomes, and centrosomes both at ultramicroscopic and molecular levels. These units also incorporate the detailed account of nucleus and chromosomes and an elementary idea of cancer biology and the cellular basis of immunity.

Unit 3 and 4 incorporate "Biodiversity -1: Protozoa to Annelida" in which the details of those animals types has been given which are prescribed in the syllabus. The units also include the classification, characteristics general survey of Protozoa to Annelida only. 

A flow chart of classification of each phylum has been given for the convenience of the students for their theory as well as practical.
